Satoshi Nakamoto is the pseudonym used for the creator of Bitcoin, one of the most illustrious figures of all time. While the name itself is of Japanese descent there are many different theories for Satoshi’s identity, from British to American the list doesn’t discriminate.
Although the original whitepaper for Bitcoin was released in 2008 the man of mystery began working on the code for Bitcoin in 2007. The idea was to build a peer-to-peer proof-of-work system that would make sure no transaction could be duplicated or fabricated on the network. Satoshi had solved the main issue behind the use of digital currency in the mainstream which was having currency be double spent.
Satoshi launched Bitcoin in 2009 starting the age of cryptocurrency, however he was only involved with it until 2010 which is around the time he disappeared leaving his legacy for the masses. Many believe he was a genius or even a team of geniuses, others have specific names attributed to this pseudonym.

Craig wright( claims to be satoshi, sues people who disagree)
Nick Szabo(Wrote a paper for Bitgold, a very early precursor similar to Bitcoin.
